Masseto is part of the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia estate, it is one of the greatest wines of Tuscany and Italy. Located in the Bolgheri wine region in northwest Italy, this tiny terroir is planted only with Merlot. In Masseto, the soil is rich in clay, sand and pebbles, characteristics that give Masseto wine all its elegance. On the steeper part, gray clays dominate and give the wine its body. Below, the soil is less clayey and the grapes grown there will bring fullness, softness and generosity to Masseto. Masseto is aged for 24 months in 100% new barrels then is kept at the property for another 1 year. Produced in very small quantities, Masseto is a rare wine highly sought after by collectors.
